The nearest vineyards to our wine cellars are cultivated in the village of Busche. They consist of about thirty hectares, divided equally between white and red grapes and situated near two old farmhouses. Our agricoltural firm has always had here its principal centre, with time however more and more space has been given to the viticulture. Cattle raising and silk worm breeding, which were cornerstones of the agricultural world of last century, have died out. The stratigraphy of the ground evidences different pedological characteristics typical of alluvial soils of calcareo-dolomitical origin such as these.

Tezze
In a part of the vineyard gravel is prevalent and appears on the surface, in other places it is found at about ten or more centimetres under ground, and in others it is absent. The strong presence of carbonates, particularly evident in some vineyards such as Novalis and Montesanto, has a notable influence on the taste of the grapes. Finally infiltrations of clay favour the production of completely mature grapes indispensable to obtain wines to be aged.

The village of Tezze, in the municipality of Vazzola, is in the central eastern part of the province of Treviso. It is on the left bank of the river Piave, a few kilometres south of Conegliano. The Prealps and the gentle hills form a spectacular natural amphitheatre which protects the valley from the cold north winds. The sea is not far away and has a beneficial effect on the climate. Tezze is near the centre of that “Marca Trevigiana gioiosa et amorosa” famous for its beauty but also for its eccellent life style. The city of Treviso doesn’t need presentation. So rich of history and full of suggestive corners and also capable of living today a second renaissance.
In the country side between watercourses and rural lanes, there are vineyards cultivated with care and spendid ancient villas.
Tezze of Piave is a good example of this with its old “Borgo Malanotte”, a picture of houses, vegetables and courtyards framing the 16th century villa. There is also the scenery of the “Grave del Piave”, theatre of battles in the First World War, rich of memories such as the British War Cemetry, a green lawn simbolising civilisation and respect for its own history. The city of Conegliano, with its famous ancient main street and its castle in the background, the hills of Prosecco wine going towards Valdobbiadene pass through beautiful countryside in every season.
Further on is the magical wood of Montello which accompanies us to the magnificent Rocca of Asolo. And again Oderzo the ancient Opitergium with its roman remains.

Collalbrigo

Recently inserted in the firm’s property the Col Real vineyards has permitted the entrance - by the front door – in the magical world of the “ Prosecco”, a D.O.C. (Denomination of Controlled Origin ) wine of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. We are in the heart of the hills of Conegliano in an enchanting landscape.

The vines are in an harmonious setting of streams, hedges, woods and vineyards. If we can still see a few brush strokes of gold in the surrounding green it is due to the far-sightedness of some farmers. The landscape is various and for this even more fascinating. The ground is clay and the clay gets hard during the hot summer days when it cracks forming irregular clefts. A difficult and not generous soil which always forces the vines to do their best. Production is in fact very limited and the wine conserves the perfumes and flavours of the meadow flowers which the bubbles help to capture. The “Prosecco” of Collalbrigo expresses both the lightness of the vine and the character of its land.

Romanziol
Following the course of river Piave on its journey to the sea we come across the village of Romanziol. Once it was the country seat of the important 15th century venetian Da Mula family. Their house was completely destroyed during the 1st Worl War and now the firm is housed in an ancient “barchessa” where once there were the wine cellars. In the ageold park there is still a vineyard which today has been readapted to biological culture.

Around this there are other vineyards which form the five hectares of the estate. The soil is a medium slurry malm with sandy layers which help to attenuate the effects of the hot summers. The varieties of white grapes grow extremely well here thanks to the age of the vineyards which favour an adequate vegetative-productive balance.
